replacing new clutch cable

Energy One
Can someone show me step by step how to put the cable and the little piece it fits into with the three ball bearings the right way with the rod that goes through the tranny. I cant fathom how it works so it's even harder for me to put it all together. Thanks guys and or girls....

Plus a few pics on the ball ramp assembly

The pieces

Once you get to this point... all you have to do is spin out the cable from the front of this pulley cover.

Just make sure you grease it up well when you're done. I suggest Mobil 1 grease cause it won't break down.

As far as how it works...

The ball ramp... if you remove the to plates and balls... you can duplicate this. you have the 3 bearings that are between the plates that have grooved ramps in them for the bearings to ride. The lower plate is fixed in one spot with a tab in the pulley cover. But when you pull/activate the top plate (which hooks up to the cable) the plate rolls on the bearings and the unit expands/gets taller as the bearings roll UP the ramps.

Now put the clutch rod into play. You have a clutch rod (as shown in Rays link above http://www.bigdogbiker.com/forums/how/2025-how-adjust-your-clutch.html ) that spins into that top plate. So when its pulled/acitvated its going to move the clutch rod towards the other side of the bike.

Now the clutch itself. It has the fibers and steels being pushed together with the pressure plate and springs. When in this position the power from the motor will go to or connect with the tranny input. In order to break the power to the tranny you need to release the pressure being applied to fibers & steels.

So put it all together. You pull the clutch, the ball ramp assembly expands pushing the clutch rod towards the clutch pack and releasing the pressure on the pack by pushing out on the pressure plate(and clutch springs) releasing its hold on the plates (fibers to steels).

Make sense?
