Replacing main tranny bearing on door side and quad seal

A few months ago I replaced the the rear tire on my 05 bulldog and when I did I tightened the drive belt tighter than it was before cause I noticed when my bike was pulling hard in 1st and 2nd I could feel it jump a tooth. I probably put 600 miles on it since then but on Sunday I was out on a nice 250 mile trip and I looked down and half my belt was missing (threaded/melted) everywhere and it was tracking away from the tranny on the pulley. i pulled the outer cover off and noticed a little (very little ) play in the tranny pulley. I also noticed tranny lube leaking from between the two output shafts so I think that the quad seal could be leaking, the main larger seal looks to be fine.

Question I have is, am i going down the right path
replaceing:
main bearing
quad seal
door gasket
belt

or is it something else wrong?

Also what am I getting into by opening up the door and pressing the main bearing out of the door? is there a bunch of stuff going to get out of place when i take the door off? What should I or shouldn't I do?

Scott, I'm not quite sure what you're saying. Are you saying that tranny fluid is in your primary fluid? Are the 2 "output" shafts the drive shaft/motor and the mainshaft/tranny or are you referring the left side mainshaft and countershaft of the tranny? If you did not have good alignment on the belt after you tightened it up, it will eat your belt up just as you described.

I checked my pivot bolts and put a new belt on. I religned the rear tire with a home made guage from the pivot bolts to center of rear axle. now when I put it in drive it seems to track just fine but when i turn the wheel backwards it tracking to the right (away from my tranny.)

Unless you ride your bike backwards a lot I would only worry about forward motion tracking

I have to agree with the Kaptin on this one. After a short ride, closely inspect your belt for wear on either side that would indicate poor tracking alignment and adjust back to the center of the drive sprocket.
