Hi,
Owned this bike since brand new in 2002. Long time member but never had a question. Starter is dead and going to replace with a high torque model. Pulled the 2 bolts and still won't release. Do I need to pull the primary to get to the shaft? And suggestions on replacement? don't want a rebuilt as going with black this time.
Thanks. Loved this bike forever.

Make sure you get the correct jackshaft bolt size (that's the bolt on the inside of the primary). It's a 1/4"

What Roadie is saying is there were two different sizes. You probably have the smaller bolt, and the new starter will probably be the 1/4". Make sure you assemble it with the correct bolt.
