Replace EHC with one from Big Dog - Gen 2 - issue

Ok, so my old EHC went out on my 2007 k9... ordered a 2nd gen from big dog. Put it in and the right hand controls do not work - bliner, start / run. This is a better improvement from the old ehc where the lights were on but dim, speedo had no function, bike wouldn't run.... Everything works on the bike except the right side controls.

What I have done:
I replaced the old EHC with 2nd gen from big dog
- All works except RS controls

I replaced RS control board - no effect

I removed tank to ensure wiring is connected - it's connected

I verified every single other connection is plugged in.

The only thing I can see is the existing harness plugs into the new ehc. The pins all look to be seated properly on both ends. The only assumption I have right now is there is an improper pin layout in the new harness or someone how a pin is unseated. regardless I have contacted big dog's tech support and am awaiting an answer. Hoping someone else has had this issue and can steer me in the right direction. Truly need to go for some rides asap as my bike has been down a few months awaiting this ehc swap.

I am confident that the good fellas at BDM will get right back to you with all the tech support you could ever need, but how this issue is not related to the backbone wiring, is a mystery. Start megging the wires to your RH control, somewhere there must be some broken wires. We'll, unless the new EHC is bad, but I'm normally the guy who gets those kinda parts...

Sounds like you covered all bases Joseph, it sounds like it's a good possibility the the new EHC is bad, your probably going to have to send it back to have it checked out, that sucks but I think you exhausted all other options already, good luck and I hope they get back to you soon.

I agree but I swear after tearing her down and tracing everything... and even replacing the rh control board... talk about frustration ya know. I miss riding and was hoping there was a magic black hole of common sense I missed. You know when you hit the point of frustration and are ready to pull a wonderwoman and throw that shit 20 miles to the sky..... yeah, I was there yesterday. Even thought about buying the costume.

When you turn the key on does the red light on the ignition module stay lite? or does it blink and go out?
Solid red. Left side controls work - blinker, hi/low... If i try to put on 4-way... nothing right blinker.. nothing.. run/start - nothing.

Well Joseph we can rule out the pin mispacement placement quickly. To help narrow down your issue. Might be hand control wiring harness.

You got your tank off still?

Disconnect the JST Connector leading to your right hand board and try jumping the leads inside the connector. You can use a small wire or paperclip, better yet if you have two probes.

Put one on the black ground wire coming up from the RIP and the other one should be black with a red stripe. See if the bike trys to start. Also you can test your right blinker this way too. Ground wire and White with brown stripe wire.

I use two probes I wire tied together.

Just be careful jumping wires it's a small work area and you don't want to jump pins that shouldn't be.

These should be the wire colors coming up your backbone.
