Removing rear lights?

Energy One
Ok, so I guess I kinda missed the bus on moving from the other forum to over here. Like the new digs!
Anyhow...my last post over there was regarding my right rear tail light not working as a running light. The brake and turn signal part of work just fine, but not as a running light. Someone suggested inspecting the board for corrosion or other issues. My problem is how do I get the stupid light off/out of the housing to inspect the board??? I appreciate y'alls help!

dude just went thru this, mime took a shit too. you just use the little flats on the edge of the board and pry it outta the housing. mine rusted out.

alrighty, got the light of the housing. Looks like a drop or two of water made its way in there and shorted out between two prongs on the connector. I think the wiring connector is still ok, but the board looks to be shot. Suggestions on where to find a new one besides the stealership?
Also, anything I can do to prevent this from happening in the future?

I will try to attach some pics, hopefully they will show up here...sorry for shitty quality, hard to take indoor garage pics!

ok, ok...I was really thinking that just cleaning off the contacts and board was too simple of a fix. I was all ready to go out and spend some money to repair. The cleaning has made the light work again! I guess it just lost the constant voltage connection needed for the running light. So is there anything that can be done to prevent this in the future???
