I wish I had more money.
What is the best and or easiest way to remove chrome from a set of K-9 struts at home?

you want to remove all the plating ? copper, nickel, chrome

If you remove the chrome you will still have bright nickel plating under it

Mike alot of members have put chrome struts on their scoots. Try and reach out to see if there are any polished ones lying around. Alphadog is putting chrome ones on his 07 K-9. Don't think he is going to have any use for his stock polished set. This way you don't damage your chrome set. If you want I can reach out to him or you can pm him....

Not forks. Struts on the rear fender. I got my hands on a set that the chrome is boogered. So I want to strip them and polish them to sell/trade. So to answer Fives question yes all of the plating.

Normally if you just take care of it, keep it clean, use lots of your best chrome cleaner it will just peel off all by it self:roll:

If it was my project ... I would take it to plating shop and have them strip it chemically.

1) you remove the chrome with Hydrochloric acid takes about 30 seconds

2) you remove the copper and nickel with nitric acid takes about 30 minutes or less.

Related question if I may.......

I have a chromed rear wheel on the chop that is in rough shape - if I did have it stripped, can it ever be brought back to original polished again or would paint / powdercoat be the only options ?

Yes it can be restored to full polished condition after stripping.
