remove starter

i need to take out starter from 06 k9...brand new and not working...could someone list the steps in detail cause ive had it with the bike!..ty!

There's a couple good threads on here on how to check your starter without removing it. Do a search on the how to. It might not be your starter.

the starter is new....i had to have it towed to a shop they said all voltage and connections were fine,they removed starter said it was bound up worked the plunger and got it going again. Ipicked the bike up started fine a number of times over the corse of a few days,then went to start it and just the click noise and no start.I contacted person who i bought the starter from and said he will gladly replace it.I am not having it towed back to that shop for after my 600.00 dollar bill they will just tow it,pull starter and send it out for me.I am not mechanical but im not paying them again to pull it out, so i gotta do it myself.Cant seem to find a tgread on how to remove, wish me luck PLEASE!

Are you sure your battery is charged, when it clicked did you try jumping it?

Yep. Sound like it could be weak battery. I would do what Ker suggested first. Do you have it on battery tender between runs?

Tried jumping it no good,ill bring battery to autozone today to have it tested but mechanic said it already was

I am in no way mechanical what so ever but it is an easy thing to change out the stater on these bikes as I have done it myself with the help and pictures of a thread on here. I would check out the battery first like the previous gents have said considering after changing out my starter I still had problems until i changed out my battery....:up:

Thanks,checked battery and its good all connections seem good too,gonna take it out since have warrenty......really dont know what else to do

The Main thing is to take your time doing it... I pulled the battery box up and strapped (small little bungie cords) it off,that way the wires aren't in you way....

Bench test it and if it runs good then it's a connection problem. If it's internal then I would suggest sending it to WSW to check it out and rebuild it if it needs. Did you get a new starter or a re-manufactured starter? For a minimal fee it can be tested and re-built if necessary and we can make it work for you.
