Red indicator Light while idling

Being this is my first V Twin and Big Dog please be patient with me,

I noticed something after I removed the speedo yesterday to get dimension for Mad Dog to look me up a new one

Today I hooked the old back up and started her up to get her warm before changing the oil and noticed on the rear fender theres a module with a single red indicator light on it.

When the ignition is on the light is illuminated and stays on when the bike is running. I didn't notice this yesterday. So my question, is that light supposed to always be on ? I uploaded a pic of what i'm talking about.

The bike seems to run fine but wasn't sure.

My second question is after draining the oil from the plug directly under the motor and the filter only about a quart was drained from the engine Is that normal I thought more would drain out. Only one quart went into the tank and was it was about an inch from the top of the tank.

It's supposed to be on. That is the ignition module.

Cool thanks thought I may have messed something up when taking the speedo out there has been some butchering on some of the wires under the tank and had me nervous. Thanks again

Dltbr, you should be draining the oil from your oil tank. Theres a threaded plug located at the rear of your oil tank. You should have 3 quarts of oil. If you pulled the plug at the bottom of your engine, you drained your engine crank case. Just to let you know...

Just a few suggestions,
1. List the model of BD you have under your name.
2. get yourself a shop manual.

Dltbr, you should be draining the oil from your oil tank. Theres a threaded plug located at the rear of your oil tank. You should have 3 quarts of oil. If you pulled the plug at the bottom of your engine, you drained your engine crank case. Just to let you know...

Yes, on all the above. Be very careful when putting that plug from the engine back in, they strip VERY easy 99 % of us do not remove that plug for that reason.

Kick Start , shop manual online said the same thing but theres no drain plug on the tank and also said the other plug on the crankcase,
I have 2 braided hoses that come out the bottom and 1 rubber hose that is closed off at the end. I am thinking the rubber hose is a drain line for the tank. but still would not drain it all.

I have ordered the K&P filter, Amsoil fluids and a scavenger. I hope it will be in shortly. This thing has sat in not the best of conditions so I want to flush everything. I actually thought about removing the entire oil tank to drain and clean but figured there has to be an easier way.

That plugged rubber hose is your drain line
