I put for a new rear wheel on my 05 Ridgeback back in june Dealer called me yesterday to tell it was in. Told her that was nice its Nov. and i put the bike away. 30 degrees here and the dealer 2hrs. away. wtf.
It’s not the dealer’s fault. Big Dog has done it best to send out all the 2005 Recall rear wheels as fast as they can. Your local dealer will be charged for the wheel on a flex account. You will need to return ASAP to replace the wheel so dealer can get credit for the old wheel. I am a dealer. I know the procedure. Remember if you need brakes or a new tire now is the time to install it. Big Dog is paying for the labor. Some of my customers have been on hold for the same rear wheel for 6mo or better. Help out you local dealer so it might just stay open to help you with all you Big Dog needs. Just a little info from the inside.
I know its not the dealers fault. I wish it was warmer. I have no no way of getting the bike there. 2hr. ride I-95 or I-84 are both a pain to ride on. have to call her back
Go to U-Haul and rent a 5x10 or 6x12 tandem axle covered trailer and haul it over there. The ridgeback will fit in there quite nicely, U-Haul also has motorcycle trailers for rent as well.
That's how I picked my bike up when I bought it. (threat of rain and 40 degrees that day mixed with a 3 hr ride) :zz2cents:
Like Erldawg said!!! When my bike had transmission problems, I hitched a ride home and rented a Uhaul trailer for a day for $18!!!!! it wasn't covered, but in Arizona that don't matter!!!!! It's waaay cheaper than havin a bike towed!!!! Good luck!!
maybe get a cycle jack, I have one made by OTC only 3 1/2 high at low point and slides right under nicely. easy to remove rear wheel and drive down in car, jack also great for polishing wheel etc.
yup,
uhaul is crazy cheap. brakes, tire, check the belt tension etc.... het it all done while they're in there. Good time to add dyna beads if not already.
