Rear wheel spacers

i have a 2007 mastiff and there seems to be a missing spacer for the rear wheel,, when the axle is loose i can slide the wheel side to side more than 1/4 inch.. there is a single spacer on the left side and dont see a spacer on the right... also when i loosened the axle nut the swing arm sprung out approx 1/4 inch -- this may confuse things a little but the bike had a RSD belt changed to chain drive conversion -- can anyone explain or show a pic of what spacers should be there ? guessing i should not be able to slide the wheel side to side and the swingarm should not be spring loaded...

thx

Not to be a smart azz however did you look at your service manual?

One spacer on the right and two short ones on the left side. (one on each side of the brake caliper bracket) 08 service manual...

yes i did look ,, but that does not reference bending of the swing arm assembly and thought i would get some feedback from those who have done this / and or had a chain drive conversion -- was also wondering if the spacer on the sprocket side was modified for alignment and causing a gap on the left...

Gap and swing arm bending just doesn't seem right......

I would check the bearings to make sure they are not shot. I has a situation where I heard grinding every time I made a left turn. Well the left bearing was gone and it was so bad, the bearing race welded itself to the axle. The wheel moved left to right about 1/4 inch and that was because most all the ball bearings in the bearing were gone. I had to cut the axle to get the fucker out. , and replace the axle and bearing as well.

You need to loosen the rear well adjustment screws or belt adjustment screws (located where in front of the axle on the swing arm), it has a stop or cap screw and an adjustment screw further in. Remove the first one and loosen the other to get the chain off and check out your bearings. Check to make sure you have two 1/2 inch or so spacers on the left side one before and one after the break arm and one on the right side. I have looked into doing a chain, conversion myself to bring up the RPMs by 300 or so. However the chain converstion should have nothing to do with the wheel spacers . So far I decided to keep the belt and go with a 32 T pulley on the tranny, hope that works if not I go back to checking into a 48/23 chain set up. :2thumbs:

thanks Carlos,,, i got it licked now but needed an addition 1/8 in spacer for a good fit that i was comfortable with... ... i have a 24T sprocket in front,, still babying the new motor around and working the kinks out so i have not had a chance to ring it out...

in process of putting an Ultima based 127 into a mastiff -- bought a frame/basket case and putting the pieces together along with some extra's like a karata drive -- i bypased the EHC for the ignition... EHC now controls all the lights, blinkers, brakes etc,,,, but the nose cone ignition is a seperate circuit (it does not have to be but i think my EHC has a short -- need to prove that out) -- right now its running but working out some carb issues.... so far its a cheaper/viable option instead of the S&S motor -- thinking through the re-wiring process and trying to see whats best option...
