Rear Wheel Removal

Gotta get to my Ridgeback's wiring under the rear fender, any good tips or methods for removing the rear wheel?? I just have to drop it far enough to get my hand (that's right ladies, BIG hands) up in there.

I did a search already.

Thanks

removing the tire takes very little time, less than 30 minutes. Put on lift, remove rear brake, remove axle and tire drops out. Remember where the spacers are and how they go back on. Recommend taking a picture if memory not so good. :)

If its the wiring you are working on, it is best to remove the fender. All you have is 4 bolts on the struts the fender is off. Removing the rear wheel will take removing the adjusting set screw plug, backing off the adjusting screws, removing brake caliper, rear axle, belt or chain, them comes the fun part putting it all back together and aliening the rear wheel.

If it was me I would remove the two rear strut bolts and just loosen the two front strut bolts, raise the fender up and you can get your big hands and more in there.

I agree. This is the easiest way.

Not to mention that the wiring is not inside the fender unless it's different on the rigids! The wiring should be between the strut and fender so remove the fender the way the guys above described it and you should find your wires in there.

On my 08 Ridgeback, there are a couple of red colored holding tabs that are holding the wire harness in place under the fender up to the strut. I'm glad I asked though, I didn't even think of removing the fender :bang: :bang: :bang: .

I did notice the fender to strut bolts though, it looked pretty tight in there!

Thanks again, I'll give it a shot.

Damn that was easy!! That advise alone has more than paid for the price of admission!! 5 bolts and the fender is off, got my wiring done and all hooked up before midnight too. I greatly appreciate the help on this one. I'm buying the beer if we ever hook up

In case you're wondering what I was doing, I got a new rear tail light wiring harness and added 3 more wires to it on one side so I could run a dedicated run/brake light (LED's) under my rear fender. The hook up is going to be sweet. ( I have Jake's WP374 on my bike, so don't try this at home kids) I'm getting a modified Wire Plus module to be able to do this, all I can say is Rick and Don at Wire Plus are "class act" guy's, who have gone out of their way to help me.

Thanks again to all you guy's!! I'll be posting pic's after all is complete.
