Possible factory damage if you are the OO and this is the first time the wheel is off. Bought used? Maybe not the factory if you want to point a finger and question the QC of this bike? That says someone on the line installing bearings would let this go on a bike?

And is this a sealed bearing, or open balls you can see? Did someone damage the bearing and popped the seal off? There is the bearing knocked off with some chip?

. Either way, there is a video with someone cutting round bar stock, hacksaws the center down some, fits snug in the axle hole, takes a long flat drift or long shaft screwdriver and Y's the split open so it grabs from the inside, spreads it out, hammers in the out direction is either the driver or bar stock. That or kit called a blind bearing drift or whatever search words needed, unless you know how to punch them in and out...

Read the bearing numbers and cross reference the bearing to some bearing jobber house that can match chinese, japanese, USA bearings. F-ch, so USA.

It's 15yrs OLD. What environment was it in for that time.
At that age of the bearings and considering their importance and cost -- who cares - just replace them.
