I have an '06 k-9 and have replaced the back tire twice and notied the threads are showing again,so thats 3 tires in 10k miles. It has wore the same every time, the left side of the tire wears REALLY fast and the center and right side has very little wear.I'm tired of buying a $280 tire every 3k miles.has anybody out there have this happen?or is this normal?Love the k-9 but if this is normal,i'll have to consider getting something with cheaper tires.
I've got a heritage springer with 10k miles on the tires and theyre about 60%:job:

You sure that your aligning that tire correctly? Sounds like your riding on the left side. What type tire are you running and I suggest you go to the introduction section and post an introduction when you can. By the way welcome from Washington State, and hope you enjoy the site...

I've got 10k om mine and it still looks good. Could be that your highways in Florida are made of different substances that wear your tires faster. Mine is also showing even.

The roads in se,va have alot of crown for sheding water. The primaries are flatter. just a thought.,do you ride a
lot of back roads.

I just wanta ride
Make sure the back tire is tracking straight. When I purchased my bike I had to replace back tire only had 3000 miles. I had a new one put on and the shop that did the work said the tire was not straight. I was like going down the road with it turned to the right. I have about 8000 miles on this one a still have tread left.

reddog did have a problem with his. ended up sending it back to the factory for them to repair. not sure what all they did, but he was running about 3k per back tire.

* i am not saying this is a common situation. just saying there is a possibility. normally, it is due to the air pressure, the type of road surface, misalignment, riding style, or a combination of these.

I'm on my third rear tire. I've been getting about 7500 miles out of each of them. I've used both of the Avons.....cobra and venom

As already said I would check the alignment. You measure it out for yourself to see if something is significantly is out. You can measure from the swing arm bolt to the center of the axle to get an idea or take it to a shop to have it done. I believe the Avon's are soft rubber anyway. I put 5 tires on in 15K miles but they were all worn in the middle due to my riding style :D:D:D
The crown in the road will wear on one side more though too. Perhaps too many turns into the bar are having an effect too. Ride further..

What tire pressure are you running? My first tire wore to the left and the dealer said it could be due to low pressure. I did run it a little low (35lbs) to soften the ridgeback some. I still got about 6000 mile out of it. I have 42 in the new one and it is wearing fine.
