Rear Tire Change

Lots of good tips/how to's on BDB but just don't feel comfortable doing it my self this tme around. So my question is do I have to remove either the brake rotor or drive pulley to allow a shop to remove/install tire?

You do not have to take the rotor or pulley off the wheel to get the tire of.

You don't have to pull the rotor or pulley but if you have not replaced your wheel bearings yet you should consider doing so and in that case obviously you would need to break the wheel all the way down. It's an easy job and you can put better bearings in than stock.

Only 6k miles on the bike not sure if it's worth the time/effort to replace as this point??? They appear to be ok. No movement/looseness and rotate smoothly.

It's not hard to remove the back wheel and I would not take off the rotor or pulley. I would also leave those bearings if it rolls smooth and free and not loose. Just make sure you take a picture or mark where the spacers have to go back in! Also, make sure whoever is changing the tire and balancing it has the proper equipment so they don't damage the wheel, rotor, or pulley.

If you ever replace the bearings, make sure the hubs are installed EXACTLY the same way before they were removed. Meaning the same wheel bolt hole to hub and left hub to right hub orientation.

Don't tighten the drive belt to spec....it's okay to have an inch of top to bottom play on the belt. IT's not a banjo string!

Huw - thanks. taking off was the easy part. my bike only had 3 spacers large one pulley side and 2 for brake side, not sure the term but the spacer lip/shoulder goes to bearing side
