Rear shocks

I am removing my rear shocks. But I am having a problem. I have an 07 K9 and the rear end of the bike is up in the air. But the shock bolts will not turn without using a hammer on the wrench. Is there something I am missing?

its been awhile since I changed a shock but I dont recall anything odd in the mounting scheme. Perhaps its just lock tight. Carefully put some heat to the bolts or some penetrating fluid, let it soak

Probably an excessive amount of Red loctite on them.
You can try heating the bolt up and then wrenching on it.
Nothing special though. Lefty loosey Righty Tighty

Put a cap jack under the rear tire to take some of the weight off. Your going to have to support the rear wheel anyways. I used two cap jacks when I lowered my rear on the Mastiff...:2thumbs:

Just put a set on my self, they look great. It was 40 deg. that day, so I only road about 2 miles down the road and back, but they felt good.

I got them off. I had to put some heat to it. Once i did that the bolts came right out. Thanks for the help.

FYI- they are commonly installed with locktite on threads since you do not crank the bolts tight onto the eye of shock mount, you have to leave a bit of freeplay room to avoid binding / premature shock failure. So yeah getting the bolts off later takes some effort, but that is a good thing. I think the typical recommended gap is .020. You don't want slop in the play just enough where the eye pivots freely.
