Attached are 2 pictures of a little project I am working on. Not finished yet, still needs to be cleaned up and chromed etc. The wife wouldn't go on long rides on the p-pad, so I took a headrest from a car and it is a lot more comfortable AND is a great backrest as well as a nice luggage rack. What do you guys think about it ^_^?

Thanks for looking ;)

Edit to original Post. I thought this was a backrest at first didn't realize someone was actually gonna sit on it. I thought she wasn't riding anyways. I don't like it as a passenger setup no way that's safe but looks like a nice backrest for a solo rider.

Original Post:

Very interesting. I like it. But I just put the pack behind me when nobody is with me.

may not be seeing it right but it looks like you have taken her weight and moved it off the rear fender and pinpointed it onto the weakest spot of the struts. would be afraid that a hard jolt, ie hitting a pothole, would end up putting her on the ground behind you.

Oh wait ...she is gonna sit on that?

I just assumed it was a just a back rest for him and she wasn't gonna ride it.

Whoops!

If that's the case I would be concerned like the old man just said. Not only that putting all that weight on the bar probably blow the struts out. I don't see how you could distribute 100+lbs floating like that.

What's wrong with the pad? Buy a two up instead if you have to

Same thought here, not sure what the fender struts are rated for and there was a recall back in the day for the fender strut bolts, so make sure the bolts were replaced on yours before you let her ride on that. Again not sure what the struts are rated for when it comes to her weight on top of them.

My luggage rack has a sticker on it that states 10# max weight, just a comparison, I would get a 2 up seat with the gel inserts personally.

Sorry for not replying sooner. I have had my son on it multiple times and he weighs 210 pounds or so and haven't had any problems on my pot hole filled dirt roads. I am still looking at ways to modify it though, just a little tinkering job for a retired guy :D. Thanks for all the input everyone ;)

She must be very small!
All that weight and downward leverage on 5/8" rod, not a chance.
Buy a proper 2 up seat for the mother of your children ya tight a..
