Rear foot-peg mount offset on '06 Mastiff

Does anyone know why the BDM rear foot-peg clevis for an 06 Mastiff has an offset?
I just recently got my Mastiff and it doesn’t have rear pegs so I was wondering if I could just use the straight type clevis on mine if there are no clearance issues with the pipes. I understand that the Left Side Drive rear peg mounts were longer on the left side to miss the Primary cover, but since mine is a RSD, I don’t think I have that problem. I am just wondering what the offset on the mounts for the 06 are for.

What kind of pipes are you running. If you have the big radius you'll need the offset.

I have Streetwalker's on there now, and some Groundpounders on the way, but I like the V&H Big Radius, so there may be a set of those in my future.
