Rear fender too short for Australia

Gents, I need some help , today after spending 2 weeks in my garage down under, modifying tail lights and removing all accessories off my bike for the vehicle test I had 2 items that failed me , they were :
1- rear fender too short has to cover thevtire up to45 deg from rear tire axis .
2- liscence plate must be in the center on the fender.
Any suggestions how o o he above . I love the look of my 2005 pitbull and would want to o a quick fix to pass the test then put back the original parts. I really do not want to replace the fender.

If you aren't looking for a permanent fix, use plastic and fasten the taillight/license plate to this, then attach under the fender. Possibly could get something cheap like a jap part of even use part of a five gallon bucket. Just a thought to get you inspected and I haven't tried this, just thinking.

Thanks pknowles , keep them coming, I will definitely look into it. Trying to look for a solution from " Home Depot" .... "Bunnings" is the Aussie chain.
Thought of it but need to find the plastic piece and it should be able to hold the plate. You know how the bike shakes a lot.

How about a stiff truck mudflap? Cut it to fit and attach the license plate to the middle of it?

I like the mud flap idea. kinda what I was thinking for both plate and fender, make some kind of temporary skirt.

With so little clearance between the fender and the tire, it's going to be tough to attach anything to the rear fender from the underside. Like already mentioned, find a piece of plastic that is flexible enough to form to your fender and use 2 sided rubber tape to attach to the top of the fender. Then screw the license plate directly into the plastic. I've got the same bike, so just thinking how you can get by short term, then remove the plastic skirt/tag and go back to stock. The rubber 2 way tape shouldn't cause any issue with the paint job.

use a plastic 55 gal. drum and cut out your extention. as for attacting it use Bondo on the under side of the fender. you can use a bx sander later and remove it. as for the lisc. bracket purchase a phantom seat with the suction cups and modify the bracket to fit. that way you can remove it later with no damage to the fender. I actually had wiring problems on my 04 chopper where my rear tire tore up my tail light wires so I took a small dremal tool and cut a groove in the fiberglass rear fender and bondoed the new wires into the fender. Now they will never droop down onto the tire again.

The bucket idea sounds like the cheap fix.
Except for the license plate light ? Are they going to get you on that too ?
Is this an anual inspection or a one time thing ?

It is a one off thing not annual.
I will just stick a light on the plastic fender and somehow need to fix " an upright reflector " on it.

Brushing your teeth in the constitution, maybe those Europeans need that in there. There teeth are terrible! But they sure as hell don't need fender restrictions!

Whatever you end up doing we need some pics. A good pic of a bucket modified rear fender could make pic of the month. WOW what the hell? So they don't like it the way it is but they will let you duct tape a bucket and plate to the back and pass. Holy shit give the guy the Aussie equivalent of a hundred dollar bill and tell him to pass the SOB.

what about picking up one of the rear fenders off e-bay and actually welding a longer skirt on it just to pass then put your original back on that way no chance of messing up your original fender and paint...

Will definitely post the pics, yes bucket seems the choice.
As for getting a fender off eBay I really do not want to make major surgery on my bike , I had it since 2005 and have 2000 miles on it also. It is as new condition I just enjoy starring at it more than riding it.
Would not Want to mess around with struts, wires Locktite... Etc...

Lebo, Dead Dog and i have ours modified to suit the Aussie bs although his did break last weekend. That said mine is working well.

Remove your flashers, place a piece of cardboard up under your guard and hold in place with tape, mark out the profile of the bottom of your guard and the holes where your flashers were.
Now lay that down and following the drawn couture and holes draw a line about 1.25" above it following the curve, find the center and add where you want your license plate and tail light to fit to and add extra down and the width of your license plate, cut it out and take it to a sheet metal shop get them to cut it out of 1.6mm or 2mm plate. Paint it black after drill out the holes for the flashers and you license plate, then using something like "Sikoflex" or some other really bloody strong rubber base adhesive clamp it up under your guard.
It works

Ok, here is my idea.....undo the bolt at the front of the fender and on the struts...slide the entire fender back to th 45 degrees you need and RE-DRILL into
the sides of your fender....since the fender will be bolted in the middle it will be stiff
enough like that..when you get back to a country that doesn't car you can just push it back forward and put some push in plugs in the holes...and the holes wont show much for that matter anyway, they will be below the frame under the seat...

A Little double sided tape on the tag for short term would work.
