Anyone had to change their rear brake rotor for a 06 Big Dog K9 if so did you get the rotor from BD or after market?

Also any tips on rear wheel alignment
Why do you need to replace it? I can't imagine it's worn down. If anything it may be loose on the pins. I would just replace the 10 pins first. They are cheap and easy to change. I even do mine with the disc mounted.

Good luck,
Ray

I know a few that have changed to HH rotors. As far as alignment..get a manual, read it, learn it and then ask for help. Plenty of help to found here. Good luck.

the rotor is warped and BD wont cover it under warranty to many miles BD wants $282.00 for a new one. I have had the back tire off but want to make sure its aligned correct and the service manual sucks dont tell you shit when it comes to alignment

How many miles you got on it? Is BDM telling you they won't cover it or is it the dealer telling you this? BDM is pretty good at covering things even out of warranty.

If it comes down to you having to buy on then check out Shovelheadkicker on eBay. He sells lots of BDM parts and may have what you need.

Good luck,
Ray

Who am I talking to?

Myself?

Ray?

Wood maybe?

I believe it was Al that replaced his rear rotor with a new one from BDM. He found that they were even cheaper than PM. What you have to understand is that this American made stuff isn't cheap and therefor expensive on the wallet. Further, as Ray said I would call BDM directly. 316-219-7070

On the alignment... just measure from the swing arm pivit bolt to the axle. Then when that is that and the belt tension is correct 1/4" - 1/2" deflection at 10lbs. Rotate the tire forwards and backwards to see if it tracks well.

My bike has the pm hooligan wheels and matching rotors. I had to replace my rear rotor only (mine has a center carrier) and like gas said It was 60 bucks cheaper to order from big dog instead of performance machine even with any discount. Pm wanted $215 for the rotor $285 for the complete assembly and I got the complete assembly from big dog for $225.00

I have 10k runout on the rotor starting at 0 turning the rotor one full turn is this too much runout?

Also I have this bluish ring that has appeared about an inch above the fork seal cap what's that all about its on both forks

LRRL,

So I take it that you have spoken directly to BDM and that your communications is not going through a third part such as dealer? Find it very unusal that they would not cover it under warranty for though they eventually do wear out, 10k is way too soon and upon reading the warranty section of my O&M, it does not say disc/rotor are not covered, it does mention disc pads, but not the disc.

Of course like any legal mumble jumble, that section alsostates "Items or situation not covered include, but not limited to the following:"

I guess that could give them an out, just find it unusall with so few of miles. Also what is causing the excess wear anyway. Do your ride the brake excessively? If not were the brakes properly set up, has the mainteance been done properly, for overall, you are looking at changing a rotor sooner than many change the disc.

Welcome also and look forward to the detail intro, pics and do not forget to pin the map.

Cheep I called my dealer and they are $14.95 apiece times 10 =$149.95 a wheel.

Call Nelson, your dealer is a dumbass!! I can't find my reciept for my last order (I do keep all of them but seem to have misplaced this one) but I still have the bag of pins and the stock # is 143-000007-00. That should be good for all but you should verify. The kit comes as a whole bag of 10 and the $14.95 seems about right for the bag.

Ray, I agree with you on the dumb ass part. For sure if he thought I was going to pay 149 dollars for them.

Ray I talked to JB at R&B Cycle in Nashville and gave him the part # you gave me and he told me that is the same # he uses and they are only one button in it for 14.95.
