Fully recharge the battery and measure volts at terminals after disconnected from the charger for an hour. What's the battery voltage while parked?

Should get near 14 volts across battery with volt meter while running around 2000 RPM.

Whoa there Bobby.... don't go buying two things when it may only be one or none. Check the obvious first, good tight connections everywhere and nothing rattled loose? Then look under the techinal threads and verfiy if your voltage regualtor is functioning properly. Easy checks with a voltmeter.

Here's a couple of threads to get you started.

how long has the bike been sitting? sounds like the idle curcuit (jet or passage) could be plugged. this is a common problem with bikes that was stored with fuel still in carb. remove fuel bowl from carb and clean the jets and passages. hope this helps

You can get seafoam at any car parts store. It's just a good all around system cleaner that stabilizes your fuel and cleans internal carb parts that it comes in contact with.
