Realized my Mastiff wasn't charging in Sturgis....

SKOGDOG

One of the old ones.
Blacktopper had that happen once. I recall replacing a rotor on my K9 due to excessive wear. Noticed it when we were putting in a clutch as I recall.
These V-twins are a large torque-y engine—since the rotor spline is on the crankshaft itself it’s subject to significant torque with each engine power stroke. Any wear of the rotor teeth pretty much guarantees those teeth stripping out sooner or later. I wonder what milege most bikes have when this starts to happen— probably sure riding style effects it too. If the rotor teeth are completely stripped, it allows the rotor to de-center and tears up the windings and magnets. Hell of a mess. No voltage is what gets noticed, but damn sure is a ‘too little too late’ symptom…. PITA to get at it to check tho………

Nephew's rotor buds (for a different wording) dislodged from it's glued mount so I set it up with E6000 or Amazing Goop Glue. Haven't heard about his charging system for a few years now. Let setup for at least 24hrs or more. Match gaps of the ones still glued.
