Real axel bearing cover

Was polishing the dog and noticed that the cover for the bearings on the rear axel was damaged and exposing the bearings. Anyone else ever have this? Is it dangerous to ride like this (to get to shop)? Any idea why this happens or what’s involved to fix?

Definitely trailer it !! Looks like there are several balls either missing, or out of orientation due to lack of the spacer .

Another option would be to pull that wheel off yourself and just replace the bearing(s) yourself. Saves ya a bunch of shop fees. It's really not that big of a deal to DIY . If I can do it, anybody can !! Got complete faith in ya buddy !!

For future reference,most of us replace the bearings each time we replace the tire. HDM has those bearing in stock. Most parts houses seem to have a hard time finding a good 1'' bearing.
