Ray, you don't carry a flask with you? Maybe a camelback will do the trick! Great idea, I've run out twice in 3 months!!! Thinking about storing extra fuel in the frame!!! Hmmmmm!
Yeah, I carry an MSR type bottle with me but the largest you can get is 33oz so not much. With the tank mod I'm looking at getting another gallon and that should do me very well. Just need to find an old tank. I don't have the tools to do any metal shaping not that I would to do much but cutting the piece out of another tank would be real easy.

Hey Ray, you might go over to ebay and shoot a message to shovelheadkicker. He sells all kinds of used Big Dog parts. Good luck, and I will keep an eye out for one.

Not yet. Still have it planned and my brother is ready but he is always on the road working on some Power Plant and right now working on one in Las Vegas. He rebuilds the boilers welding in all the radiator tubes. These things are a couple stories tall!!
But he says he can do it in one day and I just need to get to him first then get my tank stripped and ripped open and he'll bend the sheet metal and weld it in.
Don't know if it will happen before summer this year with his schedule and mine.

But still in the plans

Thanks for asking

Will probably have a radiator shop dip it in nickel to seal the inside. That was what the Independent Tanks shop said they do to theres. I guess it cost a bit though.
Nickle dip is an interesting idea, just steer clear of that Kreem shit.

Yeah, when I rebuilt my ole shovelhead and did the tank that shit peeled for ever. It was a real mess. I like the idea of nickle plating it.

Yeah I have. Haven't gotten around to asking BDM if the tank will fit the frame mounts. Probably not though cause don't you guys have a three point mount vice four? I ordered another tank from Coast Choppers in San Diego when I was there but they wanted $370 for a raw production tank.
Altering mine is free.

Gas, thanks for the hint but again doing mine is cheaper. :D

You are right. I asked the BDM factory about interchanging tanks today. I was thinking about picking up a later model (06 and up) K9/Ridgeback tank to put on my 05 Ridgeback and the newer tanks have the 3 point rubber flange mounting mechanism for the rear mount of the tank. He sent me the factory mounting diagram of the 06 and later tanks but he imbeded into an email so I can't copy it into this thread. Let me know if you want me to forward the email if you are interested in seeing the set-up.

Appreciate that but I know how the K-9 mounts. You can make it work but it would require major frame modifications and I want to use my existing mounts so that I don't have to cut and weld on the frame.
Thanks

Hey, at least when I'm riding with you I know you have plenty of gas to share out of the big tank of yours.
