This is why I tell my kids to think about who you have sex with!:sex: Cause if you don't like that person and they get pregnant and have a child that child may be a lot like the person you didn't like very much! :oldwtf:But had sex with cause they are hot!:oldnono: And, you can't divorce your kids! Lol! :oldlaugh:

for you guys with the little or no reserve, the length of the "draw straw" on the petcock
is what determines the amount of reserve fuel left.
you can increase, or decrease the length of the straw , and determine your reserve capacity.

Think I may need to replace my pet cock! I did it again only this time with 97 miles ??? And down the hill from my house.
My pet cock is broke

Just thinking here, why not pick up a piece of small tubing at your local hobby store and make an extension for your reserve pick up tube? Maybe braze or solder it on to increase the reserve supply. On the off chance that it just might work. Never mind I didn't see Heybaylor's post.

the "straw" is what you run in the "on position"

when the gas drops below it , you switch to "reserve and run off the bottom of the petcock.
I/E the longer the straw , the more reserve you have left.

use what ever to increase( tubing rubber hose etc etc to increase reserve capacity .
to DECREASE reserve shorten the existing straw

No one has answered the question: can you buy a new petcock. Mine
has a very fine screen over it, so "taking it apart" I think would screw it up for good.
I would post a pic but it's I just filled the tank with 100 LL AV GAS.

Sure you can buy a new petcock! Those little buggers are everywhere! But get one from Curtis to support a vendor!
Btw there was a discussion about 100ll av gas a while ago. If I remember correctly a engine guru John Sachs was against using it. If I'm wrong again, someone will correct me rather soon I bet.

To increase the reserve, you need a longer "straw" so the main runs out at a higher level in the tank. 1" longer in my double tank should give me about 3/4 to 1 extra gallon in reserve (I think)
that is correct, If you want to know how much is left , get a container to run the gas into ,
then let it run "out" from "on " ,
Then switch it to reserve and measure (with the bike straight up )
Then , you will "know your bike"
Aint life easy ??

Well Said Chubbs... Did the exact same thing as I'm sick and tired of worrying about it. Sadly, Choppers (and K9's) have enough reserve to get you to a gas station that YOU CAN SEE... Other wise push time! Started carrying 2 half gallon aluminum thermos cells with my carry stuff on long trips. Sad to say I use them ALOT...

Puttin around the back roads got about 25mpg, then road a tank on mostly two lane Highways at 55 to 60mph and got 37mpg! Then the other day on our Thunder beach trip, clocked a tank running 70 to 75mph and got 43mpg! So I'm thinking, clock a tank at 120mph I should get about 65mpg!! LOL. What you guys think?
