Use cotton T-shirts or lately I've gotten some cotton baby diapers. They are cheaper than microfiber and do a better job.

Personally the cotton T-shirts are better than the diapers because the T-shirts have a higher thread count and less absorbing.

Head over to Walmart and pick up a set of XXL or something. And just rip them in half. They are easier to wash than microfiber too

I try to recycle my rags by washing them when the get a "little " dirty, I use microfiber for some things, (chrome) and soft cotton baby blankets like the hospital wraps newborns in for the paint and most of the billet. My main thing is, if a rag hits the floor, it's done until it's laundered. .

If you want to get in the tight spots. Get a length of 3/8th inch wooden dowel and cut a peice about 16 or so inches long . Take a file or grinder and round the tip a bit and Chuck it up in a drill. Then take some cotton cloth and cut it up into 2 inch wide strips and tie them around the end of your dowel. You're all set. Just go slow to begin and watch the wires in the various places. If you try it you'll probably like it. Even if the wood touches the aluminum it won't hurt it.
:old2::old2: will try that

Just go to an auto store and buy a dozen shop cotton rags for around $3. I have a big box full and when they get dirty the wife washes them with oxyclean and they come out like new.
I was just thinking, this is strange group of bikers when the cost of rags is noticeable cost or concern.

I have been using White Diamond Polish since 07 when I bought my first big dog. If your aluminum is in rough shape get a bottle of the tool box cleaner from lowes. In a blue bottle and about 8 bucks. It's not bad.

Never tried the white diamond saw it today at Walmart. Figured might as well give it a shot although it's more expensive than mothers.

A liquid instead of a paste is interesting...we shall see. I feel like a liquid your more inclined to use it up faster than a paste.

But it is vanilla scented so that will be nice bonus.. Haha

Knows some things
It pretty good stuff, I use it now and then. I also like using a cotton rag, the micro fiber rags will actually scratch, if you use the wrong side. Only the soft side is intended to be used.

I tried white diamond ,but wasn't all that pleased with the results, Might have been the terry cloth rag I was using , but I didn't care for the fine swirls left after polishing it off, Very well could have been the cloth, but didn't think about that at the time and gave the stuff to my brother to use on his Hardly D, Since I got the billet polish, I've been using softer flannel cloth and am happy with the results. Might try the white diamond with softer cloth on the brother's bike just to be fair. P.S. the white diamond does smell kinda nice !

So first time using this white diamond...makes my garage smell nice.

It has some kind of sealer on it. I think mothers billet is less work, gonna play around but mothers billet than wipe with this might be pretty good.
