I have the exact same bike with about the exact same miles. I have had this issues twice now. Both times it was the EHC. These are notorious for being bad for 2004 and later models. They recommend upgrading to the newer version at about 800 bucks rather than a new one. Dealer in St. Paul has been real good. Some EHC's run forever, so I don;t get it either and am a bit dissapointed. I also had an issue with the key falling out. Didn't know it until I stopped - then I could not shut it off. Had to go into a Wall Mart and trash the key lock with a cheap screwdriver. Used that concept to get home. I ended up replacing the key - which was no big deal. Still, a bit dissapointed. I am considering removing all BDG electrical components and swapping to something more propritary in nature. Might even do the forks and all as it is also my understanding the 04's seals tend to go out. Nice bikes for sure, but I think getting away from BG's 'parts only' is not a bad idea if your keeping it forever.
