Question on transmission oil type

Trying to go with what I can get at a nearby bike repair shop that carries a variety of good oil brands other than having to order online + shipping. The Harley wanted to sell me Belray 85W hypoid gear oil for the transmission claiming many guys running Baker boxes are using that-- yeah, right!!!! Hypoid gear oil that's thick as honey. I think they are confusing shaft drive oil with 6 speed transmission oil.
LOL, just another example of people not understanding Big Dogs and their specific issues.

LOL, Kaptn! I guess a Harley dealer really needn't be concerned with other V-Twin products. To them, Harley is what they are about.... other brands are moot! Saturday I overheard the HD store owner briefing a customer who just bought a new bike that the bike "has a Milwaukee Eight engine with built-in quality and lowest maintenance of all Harley motors". I rolled my eyes!

The one other bike repair shop near me seems relatively knowledgeable on S&S & Baker stuff. Unfortunately he doesn't carry the full line of oils in the few brands he stocks. I would end up with 3 different brands for the 3 types of lubricants needed. Next time around I'm simply buying 1 brand (like Spectro) off the web. I will order the stuff in advance so it's on hand, when the time comes to change fluids.

I use Royal Purple 75/140. For those that Don’t know. Royal Purple is a product of Marathon Oil. One of the kids on CeCe’s travel soccer team back in High school was one of the inventors of R.P. He told me all Marathon trucks get their oil changed at 20,000 mile increments on R.P.
