Question on K-9 rear fender

Hey I am looking around at bikes and have a question on the K-9's rear fender. It looks as though it sits up too high like a top hat that doesn't quite fit. The ridgebacks hugs the tire nicely. Does the fender move with the K-9's suspension ? Or is it stuck in place and that extra room for suspension travel ? If the fender stays in the same relative position from the tire, it may be possible to knotch it and lower it to hug the tire.. Not sure though, just tossing around ideas...

The fender moves with the suspension. You could lower the bike. Or go with an air ride kinda deal but it up there so's to not hit the tire with the bounce. The Mastiffs are the same.

K9 fender mounted to the swing arm???

fender is mounted to fender struts which are mounted to the frame. Swing-arm, with wheel and tire, move independently

I guess I did word that wrong. I meant the gap is there for travel.

yep, fender is fixed and the suspension moves in the gap.

Usually a rigid frame hugs the tire tight - softail needs room for movement. As mentioned about you can get air ride to lower it - or a fat chick on the back....

It doesn't look that high to me. The weight of a rider makes it drop a bit also. I would rather have the soft tail when riding and the back stick up a bit than have a hard tail and it look a little more sleek when sitting in the parking lot.

You can lower the suspension,and get the fender down on the tire like a ridgeback. Of course doing this turns your K-9 into a ridgeback because the suspension no longer has any travel. I raised mine back up. It doesn't look as cool,but now I have rear suspension,and don't scrape frame on every turn.

Meh. I'm fine with the stock setup. Plus I can buy a whole lot of gas,and beer for what the air ride costs.
