Question on Backfire

I'm running an 08 Pitbull and have had the carb jetted to work with the high-flow air, Vance and Hines reverse radial exhaust, and a 600 cam. Runs well through 4000rpm, but at any rpm when decelerating it bakfires constantly. Is this to be expected, or should I have it looked at? I haven't taken it to redline as I only have about 1200 miles on the engine.

that's a decel pop. Search it... very normal for those pipes on a dog.

Unless its real real bad then itcould be a exhaust gasket leak...

check to see that your exhaust flanges are tight if so mine does that a little as well and i just turn my fuel/air screw out til it stops ( go bout 1/4 turn at a time while riding) then just up your idle screw

im no expert, but from what I here go by your spark plugs.... Almond color = good. Test at Less than 2500(Intermediate jet) rpm and +2500 rpm (main jet color).

Test often and sleep good.

Did you have any other mods done to the engine, like springs to go with that 600 cam? In a 08 motor, you have the beehive springs in there?

That's good info. I'm going to try that. What you're calling the "fuel/air screw", is that the Idle Mixture screw? That's about the only one I see that would be adjustable while driving.
