Question for experts- What top end can go onto a TP 107 motor?

I have the unfortunate situation of a grenaded bottom end in my 2001 TP 107 motor, and assuming the case and crank / flywheel will still be salvageable, I may as well try to make lemonade out of lemons- e.g. go for some more power on the new build.

The TP is 4" bore x 4.25" stroke, with HD Evo stud bolt pattern- anyone know if larger jugs / heads combo would work, say a 113 or 111, even if it requires boring out the case to say 4 1/8"? and what brand?

Worst case if I have to stick with the 107, I definitely want to ditch the Edelbrock heads and maybe go with an SS 107 kit, but I think those kits only fit the SS V series wider cases / stud patterns.

Anyway... this really blows.

Ask or send a PM to John Sach, he is a member on here and a engine and head builder.
My understanding is a 111" is a 4" stroke and a 113" is a 4 1/2" stroke, you have 4 1/4"
stroke so it would require a new flywheel with a different stroke or lengh. If you try a
bigger bore the cases would need to be enlarged, (hole opening) and there is
not enough material to do that.
It would be best to ask John what you options are.

Thanks for the info, that was very helpful. Forensics are in and it looks like the bottom end is actually ok. the front piston melted and was coming apart, rear cylinder was doing all the work. the Crane 304 cam was showing unusual wear. I have SS rockers, edelbrock heads, TP jugs and case, SS crank / rods, Jims roller rockers, Jims breather gear, Wiseco pistons.

So top end is definitely getting rebuilt, and cam / pistons replaced. would love to dump the edelbrock heads and intake. I'll ping John and see what he has to say.

Dude that was a total bust. I sent a message, got a reply, and got spanked hard for even mentioning the parts presently on my bike, let alone asking for suggestions on what to change to rebuild it better. Damn it's been a hard enough 3 months of crap with the bike to get this on top of it. Yeh so maybe my scoot is not "optimal" by some guy's personal standards, but it's MY scoot, and I plan on making it better.

I spoke with Branch-Okeefe and Mackie today, now those places were really nice to deal with. Also spoke with TP and S&S, also very very helpful. I'll probably end up dumping the edelbrock heads, go with a set of customized SS heads or customized stock Evo heads. Ideally I'd like to get heads / headwork / pistons / jugs / cam all done through one source, so waiting to hear back from them on who's got the best game plan. Ain't gonna be cheap but the good stuff never is right?

As I answered you, I have NO experience with TP motors............
If you took my honest answer as a spanking, you're very wrong. No way was it a ballbuster.
Why don't you post my answer, and let the board decide if it was a spanking. :2thumbs:
I help on this board when I have the experience to be able to !!!!!!!!!!

^^ are you stalking me? :D
Not my place but stalking isn't the answer seems like he wants to clear the air. Jon gets good business from BDB forum and probably wants to retain his squeaky clean image on the forum, which you can't blame him.

I agree with Jon, you can't bash him without posting the response....especially if he calls you out.

**This message is from a discretional 3rd party member** haha

I've also been drinking and want to ride...but its 11pm fucking freezing in Texas and I'm waiting for a pussy call...

^^ comment was meant as a joke. You can't get too serious on an internet forum. John and I will work it out, misunderstandings occur and I'm sure he's a good guy.

Don't drink and post - Hope you get some - Ride safe and Happy TG :D
