Question about Kuryakyn Mirrors

I have a set of Kuryakyn Scythe II Mirrors....They look awesome and really complement my bike....But for some reason no matter how tight I make the pressure plate screws...The Mirrors won't hold adjustment. :bang:

FYI..This is the second set I purchased because the first set had the same problem...I striped the pressure plate set screw....I called the company and they said mail them back and get a new set.

My question to the forum....Is there any trick ....or thing I can do ...so these mirrors would hold adjustment???

Any input would be appreciated

I feel your pain Boris, I have a set from XOPRODOX that do the same damn thing. I even tried a drop of super glue on the joint where the ball and socket is and that didn't hold either. Done stripped out the allen head screw from over tightening too. I'm going to try e new screw and some adheisive of some sort.

I have heard of others using Loctite on the joint for their mirrors and they will stay in whatever position you set them.

I personally would use loctite on mine. I have some drag specialties mirrors that kept coming loose and I used the clear loctite on them. Worked like a charm.

Anybody ever use the Loctite Quicktape 249 threadlocker tape? If so, I'm curious how it worked out.

Seems like it might be easier/less messy than applying their liquid stuff on threads.

Nope never used it, actually I've never heard of it before now. I will definitely check into it.

Once I used some clear loctite on my BD and it leaked onto the chrome clutch lever. It took forever to get off. Luckily I was using the clear so it wasn't noticable to anyone but me me.

Been using it for a few months now. Seems to work OK and easy to use. Not good for small bolts, but great for the normal stuff.

What about on mirror adapter bolt threads? That's what I'm concerned about.

I bought some Paul Yaffe "Double Trouble" mirrors for my K9 but haven't had time to put them on yet.

I got this Loctite thread-tape 249 with that in mind, but only have to do it once and not have to worry about them coming loose.

Thanks for your input!
