Question about Air Ride Suspension

Stopped at my local Big Dog dealer and talked to a mechanic about the air ride suspension. He told me that there is alot of problems with them loosing air, people getting stranded places, etc. Just wondering if anyone on here has air ride and if they have had any problems.
Also what is a good price to pay for it and how hard is it to install. Any help would be great. Thanks, John:confused:

My buddy is waiting on his to install on his V-Rod. He paid $960 on a group buy. We talked to the manufacture at the V-Twin Show last weekend and I was told they could get my Prosport done for less than $800.

With pricing like that, I have moved it to my list things to do this year.

Haven't heard anything bad on them with the exception of having to do some custom work on older bikes (03's) during the install.

Maybe your local mechanic installed a set of air ride shocks and forgot to dope up the fittings! Just like hoat said when i got mine they needed pipe dope. How are these people getting stranded? They are designed to run on the bump stops if they lost air pressure at low speeds. No leaks here Call nelson for price eazy install with correct tools. 05chop

I have the BDM system and have had no probelms...I did not use the guage though. The guages used to be a problem, but I hear they have fixed that now.

My local mechanic doesn't have anything good to say about them. Guess they have had to pull a couple off already. Can't say what the year or cause...

I put them on myself and the first time I did it I had to drop the air shock again and remove all of the fittings put pipe dope on them and reinstall. Works like a charm.

Adjust the settings on the fly.

Mechanic at dealer told me the leaking problem was in poor installation and leaks were in the lines. Also, the second shock is a back up (non-air ride) just incase you lose air pressure you don't get stranded.

Yeah the second shock is like a dampener. If you loose all the air your riding on the bumpstops.

I have it on my 06 Mastiff, I have no regrets and would definately have it on my next bike. I did however experience an electrical problem which the guys here helped me with.

I installed the air ride kit this December :2thumbs: pump line and shocks from e-bay and the gauge w/ line and bracket for pump from the dealer.. only had 1 leak and that was @ the gauge "just didn't want to over tighten it".. all assembled without a problem except mounting the pump  If i installed the assembly to the battery box as in the instructions the release solenoid was pressing hard on the starter B+ terminal "rubber" cover. so i spaced it away from the battery box.. it is a bit close to the oil tank but not sure what else to do.. Can't wait to ride it :whoop: John
By the way it will be a while:rant:  IT"S 10 FREEKIN DEGREES OUTSIDE:bang: :bang: :bang:
