Hey Gang, I am new to your forum and i came here for some advise from the horses mouth. I currently own an 05 fatboy that i bought through the Military while in korea and am now in Iraq serving 10 out of 15 mo. Anyhow here is my crossroad. I really dig the K9 but i am wondering a few things... The Frau uses our Ford explorer daily for work and to haul the girls around, so the Harley is my daily ride (which I love anyhow). How will a K9 hold up as a daily and primary ride?......Is the K9 good in traffic (am from NYC and visit Mom and Dad often)......Is the K9 good in hot weather (am home stationed in Savannah Ga) .............Also and I ask honestly and respectfully how does the bike handle around curves, corners and in twists N turns with that fat rear tire? Now I know i need to test ride a Dog, but being where I am does not help + I have a solid buyer and offer for my bike now.My second option would be keep the HD and customize her out, but like i say i really like the chopper. Any advise or answers would help me out.....Thnx

If experience counts for anything, I have never heard of anyone selling their Harley, getting a Big Dog, and regretting the decision.

The K-9 isn't a little street bike, but you can really bend it around if you want - I find mine to be plenty nimble - and there is no shortage of torque!

By the way, welcome to the forum - you'll find no shortage of opionions around here, either!

Like any big engine bike it doesn't like to sit still in the heat of traffic, not good for any air cooled bike. It will never handle like a 180 tire, but once you get a little practice you will be amazed how you can handle this 9 foot long beast. I can put my hands on my lap at 60 miles an hour and runs straight as an arrow. I would not worry about the corners unless you were riding the Blue Ridge Parkway everyday. It is a good relible everyday bike just take a little getting used too. Good Luck, it is a bad ass bike!!!

There are a lot of high mileage dogs out and about. You will not have any regrets on the K-9.

Picked out your paint scheme yet?

These bikes handle very well. :2thumbs:

How did you hear about this site?

Thank You for your Service and hurry up and get back for some awesome rides.

K-9'S kick ass! I didn't own a harley first and I have about 4k on my 07 I bought in Sept. I ride in rush hour all the time
The only thing I would regret is if I hadn't bought this bike

Welcome MoonCRickett, great to have you here.

I take it you are in Chinooks?

I have the Ridgeback, 300mm, and ridgid frame, handles great on the turns.

For what it's worth: I "grew up" in the Harley world, and spend a lot of time and money on my '02 Nitetrain (pic is in the gallery and another thread) - making it into a comfortable, all weather traveling bike. I'm taller, do not fit the Harley FX softail seating standard.

I will say that my K9 is the most comfortable riding bike I have ever thrown a leg over.

I bought the bike last Labor Day, but my very first ride was Daytona Bike Week, from Augusta GA and return, mostly over secondary roads. We put on a little over 1200 miles after that first night on the parking lot in Augusta before departing.

Yes, the wide rear tire is different, but it does not take long getting used to it. I found the bike very smooth handling and forgiving.

Like any other bike, you take care of it, and it will take care of you.

We experienced everything from the {relative} heat of Foriduh, rode through "Kodiak Showers" and a "Palmer Partly Windy Day" on the return, besides going through Jacksonville on I95 during Friday evening rush hour.

No, it will not hold a Ducatti on the Dragon's Tail, but I did follow Navy Son up a cobblestone hillclimb in downtown Savannah.

I'm keeping the Train, because it's family and a lot of me is in that bike, but the K9 is now My Ride.

Recommend that you search RayWood - has used his for daily commuting and has only good things to say about the experience (which he readily shares).

Hang in there, you're doing the right thing talking before signing the dotted line. I didn't discover the forum until AFTER I signed.

The Dragon chose me, and that was all she wrote - no regrets.

Practice makes perfect. Get a K9 then take your time and learn how it handles. I drag the pegs and exhaust on a daily basis. Once you figure it out you can ride it better than your harley.:whoop:

Thanks Gang for your insight.....
Crewing Chinooks are the only way to fly.......Life is fine at 700 ft and 140 KAS...............
I got wind of this site from Big Dog Owners Group while i was looking for K9 reviews, another question I have is when i walk into the local dealer(Low Country Customs, Savannah Ga.) how would i get a " paint scheme" instead of one of their floor models?

I had always owned and ridden a Harley, my last one was a 2005 like yours and I spent serious money getting it to where you see below and still wasn't happy until I bought the Dog. Like they say it takes some getting use to and when new they are noisy and rough but once you get some miles on them you won't ever regret it. I for one will never go back to a run of the mill bike like HD.

From here ... to ..

here

Go for it .. one more thing .. most of the HD custom shit is from China ... the dog is all american

Slowrower - how do you like the 2-in-1 VH Big Radius?...I think it looks AWESOME, but I was afraid it wasn't loud enough...
