big TYME; Please be sure and check for vacuum leaks around the

intake clamps/seals. The procedure is simple: with the bike idling spray

carburetor cleaner at the clamps and seals to see if the motor revs up

at all. If any speed increase is noted then there is an intake leak. FIX IT!

Now you can proceed with re-jetting your carb. You will be pleasantly

surprised with how a well tuned Big Dog feels and runs. Have fun!

Intake clamp/seals??? Where would this be located??? Sorry to ask such a stupid question, but once i know what ur talking about, ill do it rite away. Is this the piece that goes from the carb to both heads??? Kind of a Y looking piece??? It would carry the fuel/air to the heads from the carb. Just think i answered my own question. but would like more input just to be for sure. Spray the connection between the heads and intake??? What about spraying the connection from the carb to the intake??? thanks for the help. Once again u folks rock!!!!!!!!

You need to use starter fluid to test now. EPA mandated a reformulation of carb and brake cleaner.

To test if you have the old or new stuff, have it idle and spray it in the air filter. If it speeds up it will work. If it does nothing or slows down you have the new formulation and you need to get starting fluid.

Aaron,
You want to spray where the intake bolts up to the cylinder and check for leaks there. There's no doubt that spraying starting fluid into the carb will cause an increase in rpms.

Ite folks. Took scooter to a local wrench and he cleaned out my carb and rejetted it. Scoot runs perfect. No popping at all. Not even decel. Scoot runs so smooth now. After fixing the horn and keeping scoot on a trickle charger I have had no problems with starting it. Ready to hit the road now. Thanks for all the help folks.
