I have the pad and the wife didn't like to ride any distances on it. I heard good thing with the two up seat with gel inserts installed in it. So I ordered a new seat from Sterlings and can't wait to try it out when all the friken snow is gone, some time in June.

I went the 2 up seat.
The warnings about not using the pad in the rain etc were enough to sway me.

I may not like to ride in the rain but hey it happens.

I bought the two-up seat, then sold it to another forum member.
It was way to hard for my butt, plus it left marks on the clearcoat which I had to have repaired :rant:, then added paint protection film to the fender. If you do go with a two-up seat, make sure you put paint protection film on BEFORE you ride on it!

For my riding style (no passenger), I put the p-pad under my Kuryaken Tombstone (backrest) bag to protect the paint and away I go! :whoop:

X2 but still like the look of the bike with the solo ...I just bought a replacement PP for the last one I lost .. If I ever get time I'm going to engineer somesort of leash for the PP so I won't lose it again

The first thing I bought for my K-9 was a 2 up seat, love it. I've heard the stories about people lose the p-pads, I'd go 2 up.

posted on the go

I ride mine over the half the time without the girl with me, so I went pad. I think the bikes look way better with the fender showing and less seat. And yeah as for losing it, no way......the few times I ride without her and the pad on the bike (like going to pick her up).... I regularly reach back and make sure it is on still. Or I slide back just enough to be leaning on it myself. I just prefer the look of the small seat. :zz2cents:

I actually prefer the look of my mutt with the 2 up seat and pass pegs.
I got a gel filled one from sterling.
It is in my opinion very comfortable.
My hands fatigue before my a** does.
On my last bike it was always a** before hands.
hope this helps

Another round please
The PP wont slide as long as your fender is clean, then wet the suction cups alittle. It will stick very well.

:DThere are pro's and con's for almost everything. Although I don't have a 2 up seat, I do have a lick & stick P pad. Never ride with it on the bike WITHOUT a passenger, good chance you will loose it. It will slide a tad, if you wet the suction cups when putting it on, then NOT waiting for your spit to dry, it once dam near slid off the rear fender, with a honey on it. The P pads will also leave suction cup marks, on your rear fender paint. I myself stuck the thing on, (in the garage, side stand down) and sat on it, NO WAY would I ride back there. Save your money, buy yourself another bike for two up, and KEEP THE DOG FOR YOURSELF!:D Thats what I did.

And how does the two-up seat attach???? Does it have suction cups like it P-pad that will leave some marks on the fender when removed and switched back to a solo seat? Mike (K9Anniv) says you need to put paint protective film on your fender first. Is that because it attaches with suction cups, or some other way?

On mine you. Two suction cups. Mounts in the front like the single seat. It is just that the rear suction cups are at the back of the seat.
It will leave some marks. If you plan on switching back and forth between seats the 3m protection film is a good idea.

Like K9Anniv, I had a a 2up seat but it was starting to mess up my paint so I sold it before it could. Had to sell it quick though before the wife found out . Have a pad with cups, never had them come loose.

They will move around with a passenger on them if the bike and suction cups aren't kept clean. I do like the looks better with the solo seat - especially if you've got some cool fender graphics. If you don't have a passenger all the time I would go will the pillion and just store it in a climate controlled space in the bag to keep the dust off when not in use...I think the cups start to not work as well after being exposed all the time. And as said, I wouldn't use the pillion without a passenger on it.

BB's right...the p-pad must have weight on it to hold it down and keep it in place. Otherwise, it will blow off eventually.

I have protective film applied on my rear fender and use the p-pad under my Kuryaken Tombstone bag (storage and back support) when traveling long distance/overnight.

Otherwise, it's solo saddle only for me. :)

I had the p-pad on my 2004 Mastiff but when i bought the K-9 i got the 2 up right when i purchased the bike. I didn't know about the gel seats from Sterling at that time or i would of gotten one there. I am planning on having the 2up seat re-worked. I like the 2up better than the p-pad. Paint protector film is a must with either one.
