pulsating

im having another problem with my vintage sport. it runs great once i get above 50 but it pulsates, surges, bucks when im going less then 50 any gear any speed. it stops doing it when accelerating. ive got a 32 and 70 in it for jets. sure will be nice once i get all these bugs worked out of this bike.

sounds like a timing issue to me.

is your ignition in the nosecone?

if so then there should be coordinating marks when it was originally timed.

70 main? Could be a little light depending on the air bleed and when it transitions to the main. Like Marv said, timing also

70 main came on my 04.now running 78.again depends on pipes,air cleaner and other mods.timing sounds like a starting place.could be dirty jets but what do i know:)
 
stock bike sept for dyna 2000i ignition. followed the timeing process that came with the ignition thaught i had it right. done jets from 295 to 36 and 64 to 78 settled on the 32 70 by looking at the plugs. think i should go up or down on the main?

Thought the main jet didnt come online till 2500 rpm? If Monsterdog is below 50mph his main jet wouldnt be in play?!? Someone chime in and set us straight.

did the problem start when you installed the 2KI?

Its not about speed but RPM and load. You could be in the main circuit at 35 MPH, depending on gear, load and RPM

What advance curve do you have the ignition set? Did you set the timing by finding tdc on front cylinder and then turning the ignition until the red light went off?
 
the bike would not stay running long enough for me to see if it had problem befor ign. i did find tdc and little red lite went off.
 
i thought the bike started in the main and then transitioned to the intermediate as rpm increased or is it other way around. im still learnin.
