Hi all,

I found a match to my Chopper with a Pulley, it is a exact match to my rotors that was the closest I could find to my rims so I want to go with it but, it is a 70 Tooth Pulley. I asked Five Five and he said it would change a lot but I could use it. I would asked him now but it's way to late so maybe some of you guys are still up that may know if there would be anything I need to change if I go to a 70 tooth pulley. I have the stock Pulley which Five Five says he thinks is a 65 tooth Pulley, if I go to the 70 will I need to change the belt or is there anything special I need to do? I hope someone is up, I have to pay for this ebay item tonight.

Thanks All
Bobby

Does anyone know how many tooth Pulley it is stock? I don't have my bike with me to count the teeth and the shop is closed until next weekend and no one is around to count it for me.

What year is it?

Contact bigdogpartsking, not only will they know the correct count, they may have an exact matching pulley.

It will change you bottom end with more torque. Also a little on gas mileage, but hey you can always pull the fron end easier and get us some vids of doing so.

Good luck

No Wheelies!!!!!! I have Not Once been able to give her Full throttle in first or second gear because she wants to Pull me off. I had to start working out on my upper body and arms just to hold on to her at half throttle. My wrist wont allow me to open it up completely either, it has to move way too much to get it at that point. I was out a couple of months ago and lost my return throttle cable.

bigger rear pulley equals more likely to lift the front end and loss of mpg. its like going from a 3.25 rearend gear to a 4.10. its going to be running higher rpms at the same speeds as well hence the reason for the lower mpg's

1 down in the front pulley is like 2-3 up in the rear pulley. 5 up is going to give you alot of bottom end and torque. Might be alot and loosing top end isnt a big deal. Who really needs to do over 120 on a chopper. You will have to recalibrate your speedo. Its not hard to do. But, it will be off. Try it. If you dont like it. Sell the pulley. As far as the length of the belt. It may not enough adjustment to accept that pulley. Thats alot of teeth to go up. Its worth a shot though

Bobby If you do the math 70/65=1.0769 You gain about 7.7% more torque in any given gear. The short side of that is in racing someone is that you shift sooner than your opponent and that loss is about 42% until he shifts. The good side is that 6th gear is a little more usable. The other consideration that someone else mentioned is that the sprocket is bigger in diameter as it has 5 more teeth on it. A little more than 1/2 of the sproket is in contact with the belt so 5/2 =2 1/2 teeth. The teeth are about .570" on center. 2 1/2 x .570"= 1.45" If you devide 1.45" by 2 because half of the loss will be on top and half on the bottom you get .7125". What all that means is that your axle will have to move forward about 3/4" to make it work with your existing belt. That will probably be your deal breaker.

Thanks for the math, I would never known to check all that. I have so much to learn about my Chopper but with everything that has happened to it, I am forced to learn something new weekly..

Thanks Everyone
