PSI BigAir

Haven't heard anything about this carb for a long time. A couple years ago for awhile there were discussions back and forth about this one compared to the TAZ, etc...

So, anyone still touting this carb? The marketing sounds great, but does it live up to the hype?

I have a PSI'S Series 4 production GENESIS "BIG-AIR" carb on e-bay right now. I used it for about 300 miles or less. I had issues with the fact that I was using velocity stacks and had a hard time tuning my 2006 Mastiff. I have since gone to a filtered velocity stack. I took it off back then and replaced it with a Triple X "TAZ" with two thunder jets. I sent the BIG AIR Carb to PSI and had upgrade and rebuild it so I could sell it. I keep it and never did put it on e-bay until today. One of the reasons being that it is a pricey carb, and not many want to pay the big bucks for a Carb. I paid 1295.00 plus shipping and then had it upgrade and rebuilt so that was another bunch of money. The carb is easy to adjust and has a tremendous throttle response. No jet changing was my primary reason for getting the carb. I am old school and went back to the ole jetted carb. The Carb has not had any gas in it since the rebuild.

Sooooo, I guess the answer is "no", the carb really isn't be talked about too much anymore. And given that you actually ride (too many BD owners, buy and never ride), if you had problems with it, chances are I may too... of course that's an assumption.

Why would velocity stacks give the carb problems? I'm running a dual runner intake, but i've been thinking about that black, contrast cut velocity stack BD made, but never really released.

Thanks,

I guess the reason no one talks to much about them is because they cost twice as much as a "TAZ", unless you want one that is not chromed. I like chrome and those that do can expect to pay $1295.00 Plus Shipping.

The velocity stacks I had back then did not have a filter which makes a huge difference in air intake. Worked great with the stock intake filter. I guess I could have just kept on making adjustments till I got it right, but I didn't. I have always liked some sort of velocity stacks.

These was what I had with the PSI Carb

Then I went to this intake with the Triple X "TAZ"

This is what I run now.

As you can see by the intakes alone I just like to spend money :whoop: :whoop:

I'm running one - have had it for years now. It works good although you have to be very careful cutting the cables to length. I thought they were out of business but could be wrong? Or has he set up somewhere else under another name?

I was running a version 1 one on my K9 when I had the 117 and I could definitely feel the difference but I had never run anything else so I can't say if it was better than another option like a Mikuni or a TAZ or a triple x.
It got thrown to the side when I replaced the 117 with a non-epa 124 and I haven't had time to put it back on yet but its coming.
If I had the cabbage I would buy yours in a heartbeat Boo.

Hell Curtis if mine don't sell, I might put it back on and shelf the Triple X "TAZ" I am sure not going to give it away for anything under $950.00, as it is I am already losing $345.00
