Problems

Energy One
So I goofed an left the choke on to long, now she will not stay running at an idle and has been coughing smoke out both ends, any idea. She had been sitting for a while before I picked her up. So Ik there was some bad gas, but she had been running no prob just the occasional sputter from the bad gas

Most than likely you fowled out plugs. Replace them and drain your tank. Lots of bikes are getting cranked now after sleeping all winter. Remember, in the fall, fill your tank full with high obtain gas ethanol free!! Park your bike then turn off the gas and let your carb empty its self. This does two things. A 1/4 empty or even 3/4 empty gas tank that sits will build humidity inside and you get water gas mix. Also higher octagon fuel last longer and is less likely to break down. 3rd by running fuel out of carb it helps prevent gum up on floats, and in jets.

Also look at running Starbrite fuel treatment. It's a fuel enzyme not a fuel additive. Helps with ethanol and acts some what like Stable but better.

Great info appreciate it, is the part # for the oil filter 100 - 000074-01 and plugs champion RA8HC 12mm, and the best place to get the filter

So changed the plugs, changed the oil, she won't start. Hold the choke up a hair she will run as long as you are holding the choke up just a hair. Float stuck, got it unstuck still the same. It's got new gas, have drained the carb several times to try to flush the carb. What are you thoughts, what next

i may be wrong, but length has nothing to do with the difference between the 170 and the 171. believe the 170 is for the EVO like our motors and the 171 is for the twin cam, not our motor.

I was reading that on here, not sure which way to go. The tech here can I could run either one they do the same an he said the length didn't matter as well. I was worried about length because of the sensor didn't know it it would clear

Maybe recheck the new plugs you just installed. If there all black already it would be a rich condition. If they are soaked with gas my guess is your not getting spark. Also you did gap plugs at 40?
