Everybody on this site seems to be a mechanic but I am not.I do not have a service manual so bear with me.How do I remove my starter on my 2002 pitbull.I noticed two hex bolts bolting to the housing onto the inner primary but it looks like i have to take the oil tank off to get to them or do I take off the outer primary and get it off from there?

Ok I'm gonna try this one.... The two hex bolts can be taken out without pullin the oil tank but it's a bitch. I unbolted my tank and slid it out a little. It helps a lot. The kicker is the bolt from the primary side....Yep...you gotta pull the primary cove. Then she will slip right out. I took my starter to a local shop that rebuilds starters and alternators they had no problem rebuildin it cost me 45.00 and shes been good for a while now. The most importiant thing on our bikes is a DAMN GOOD BATTERY. dont buy the shit from walmart or autozone. And keep it hot... we don't have compression releases like the newer bikes. Good luck. and there are no dumd questions on here. I already asked them all when I was a newbie.
