Primary sealant

Pulled my primary apart to replace compensator n saw that besides gasgets n o rings bigdog had used some sort of silicone sealant. Does anyone know what it is or another easily available sealer thy hat works well?

Silicone prolly aint factory. Check the primary mating surfaces to see if they are flat. You would be surprised what gets by QC. My primary cover had some spots that were .025-.035 high. Filed them flat, no leaks. Just my .02.

silicone should be used very sparingly, just enough to hold the O-ring in place while you get it bolted up, and only in the groove. like the others have said, make sure the mating surfaces are flat.

Thanks for the info guys. Will certainly heed your advice...love the bike but damn it came w flaws.
Btw..who made the frames n how true are they..had rear wheel alignment issues also n they want u to use the adjuster slot on the hardtail to set the real wheel ...I doubt the frame is that true .

I know on my 04 Pit, the adjuster slot is fine to use. I had a previous BDM tech tell me specs are ÷ - .025. I put a center punch in the center of the axle and just use calipers to check. Make sure the wheel spacers are correct. I had a hell of time until the shop showed me the spacers were incorrect. I was missing a thin one. If you ever tear her down, you can realign the motor/trans and rear end. Just my .02. Keep us posted.
