T. Byrd and myself had this same problem a few years back and what a pain it was trying to figure out the cause. Take a look at the links below for more info but in the end the cause was play in the mainshaft due to a worn main bearing. This was allowing transmission fluid to enter the primary via the main seal and caused the primary to vent not only through the vent button but also through the mainshaft and exiting through right side by the belt pulley. At first I though it had something to do with TSB-1107 explained in the links, and this did help for a few hundred miles. However, in the end it came down to a rebuild. During this time, I was also having problems with the transmission slamming into first when the bike was cold. Looks like the clutch plates didn't like the transmission fluid on them and were sticking bad. Tried cleaning them and still had same problem. Swapped out plates and no problems since and finding neutral is effortless now. Just something to look out for.

Thank you, I went took off the primary and replaced the Main shaft seal and the orings. I will know tomorrow if it fixed my problem. (provided I put it all back together properly) :)

Nope, I think the tranny is fine, I will likely break it back down (I should be faster now over the winter and have it rebuilt.

Odd thing is I finally got it back together and she fired right up, ran for about 5 minutes beautifully, pulled her to the front yard and she shut off. Then when I tried to start it back it, she fired right up then quit. Now she will only spin over after I have cranked the throttle about 10 times before I start her up. Seems like she is not gett gas. So before I can take it out and thoroughly test the seal fixes and see if my tranny is holding up, got to get her to run more then 30 seconds.

If the primary oil is gray then there are a few reasons for this.

1. The pressure plate from Baker Drivetrain is made from billet aluminum and the last friction plate in the clutch pack stack runs against this aluminum pressure plate surface. If the clutch is slipping it will cause the pressure plate to wear and cause the oil to turn an aluminum gray color.

Baker now has a new version pressure plate that is hardcoat anodized (dark gray) which is much more wear resistant than just running on the bare aluminum face. They also have a NEW (black) hardened clutch nut and washer you need to use.

2. The clutch carrier bearing support has six bolts that are used to hold on the drive gear/ring gear. If one of these bolts loosens and backs out a bit it will RUB into the inner primary case and wear down the aluminum causing the oil to turn gray.

I want to thank you all for your help. I only took her out for a small drive around the subdivision, but she ran well. She shifted through gears 1 through 4 with not problem. I need to go on a much longer ride to make sure all it well, but so far it is looking good and apparently I put it back together ok and that is really good news.
