Primary Oil

Hey Gas, what oil are you running in the primary? The 500 mile service, done at 775 miles, the shop put in Torco, and now my clutch drags. I've adjusted 3 times, and it still drags. Kinda strange, the engagement point is out a ways now, but the inching forward is still there.

RevTech has worked well for me since owning, though I did try ATF and it seemed to work. Would have stuck with the ATF but could not get enough information to see if was bad or good, so went back to RevTEch since I knew it worked well.

I have been waiting to hear how you made out with this Tim ? I really think this should work fine ... ALL it is a wet clutch ,a chain ,and bearings & seals , IMO the ATF should work better with the clutch as particials will be washed off the fiberplates easyier allowing the clutch to grab better??? afterall most cars use this ?? Using Harley Primary lub or Revtech seems like its sooo thick ? Anybody want to add 2cents???

I have been using synthetic 20W50 in all three since new. No problems whatsoever.

I'm running Amsoil 75/140 in mine. No problems at all. Actually the clutch engages better now that I've went with it.

I've been running Castrol 20W50 Synthetic in all three (engine, tranny, primary) and everything has been fine. It's stamped on the bottle as being a engine, wet primary, tranny all in one lube. I have a buddy who'd got 50k on his with this and all is well for him too.

Wanted to leave it in there, but I could never get good wrench turners to agree good, bad or in different. I figure since was questions and I wanted to stick with what I knew was good, best to change back over.

That said still see no reason why it should not and as per my original, it was mentioned in the Baker info as well as a few other. Since switching back to RevTEch from the short period of ATF, I still think the ATF seemed to grab better as well as shifted better. May have been the imgaination or some of those postage stamps I may have accidently licked in the 70's!!!!

LOL .....love your answer .. I'm planing a drain and clutch nut check soon and I wonder if using ATF would void warranty? If not I might try this as I feel it should work better?? Something to think about ...the clutch disks are just like the clutches in a auto tranny .... if its good for a allison auto should be ok for "dig dog" LOL ... fuck it lets ride ...... Im itchin again !!

I'm using Amsoil 20W50 syn in the engine and primary and V-Twin Redline Heavy Shockproof in the tranny.

I personally called Rivera who makes the clutch and they recommended ATF type F.... I have used that for the past year and it has worked great

Its all I will ever use.
I use Belray gear saver in the tranny thou.

I bought Revtec today, but now I have to go back to town for a gasket for the inspection cover. The one on it was stuck bad.
Only have 3 more days before we take off on a 2 week trip on it....

Got it buttoned back up tonight. Adjusted the clutch cable back looser again, and it is working great! I measured the amount of Torco that I drained out, and it appears to about a quart & 1/2. I wonder if the over-fill was causing the clutch creeping...

That definately could have been something to it. 1 qrt is all you're suppose to have.
