Primary cover leaking

2007 k9 Oil all over left side of bike. Checking all fittings. I think it is coming from the primary cover.

Next step is to pull cover.

If "o" ring is not dammaged and looks good what is next.

Does a high temp silicon sealant help.

Any suggestions would be helpful.

If you have oil all over the left side of the bike you shouldn't need to pull the cover to see if it's leaking. Clean if off and look for the source, with all that oil you should see a seepage from the primary if it's the source.

Check the oil filter as well.

I tried cleaning off all the oil from the main primary cover, not the inspection/fill cover. It will not leak just sitting, but after a ride oil blows all over. Just enough to be a nuisance. It leaked before and after my oil change of 32 oz. Of oil. I think it blows out about half way up the back side of primary cover. I think I'll have to strap my wife on across the back of the bike with her head down there to see it leak at about 75 mph down the freeway...lol

middle of the back of the primary might be the inner primary vent. If the vent gets clogged, pressure builds in the primary and leaks/seeps show up in different areas around the primary

It seems like for the longest I kept leaking from the primary too. It was always the two large bolts at the front of the primary/ motor that hold the back of the primary to the block, never the primary cover. Just something to check. I kept losing my bolts from the holes and finally red locktited those suckers in.
