Primary Chain Adjustment

I was trying to remove the cover to adjust the primary chain but it's stuck on there pretty good. Anyone have any ideas on how to remove it?

some dealers use silicone on it

Gymrat If you remove the cover my way you will need a new o-ring for the cover.The old bikers dream place in colorado use to silicone over the o-ring like marv said. I got a thin putty knife and gently pushed it up between the cover and plate to break loose the silicone.I used a small amount of grease to hold the new o-ring into position. I dont use silicone.

Cover is fragil

Pry it off with a small screw driver but be carefull ... that inspection plate cover is fragil... I broke mine tightening the bolts down too tight. And put some sillycone on it so it won't leak ... :up:

Small 4 bolt cover or the large primary cover which one. When doing anything to the primary I always remove the L/primary cover so I can check things out.

whats the proper slack adjustment on my primary chain on my 2009 coyote ? im ready for my 500 mile maintinance !

between 5/8 and 7/8 in. "total" slack at the tightest spot. adjuster nut will be torqued to 25 lbft.
