just a quick note on my experience with owning an 05 chopper.
gas man, i did the same thing you did traded for reliability. after purchasing a used 05 chopper with 4,000 miles i put another 6,000 miles on it, all i can say is thank god it was still under waranty. pcb starter board, starter, clutch, speedo. then with the warranty about to run out the tranny starts making a weird noise. i drove it to baton rouge harley big dog and asked what could i traded it for. they said this 07 street glide rental bike with 6,000 miles. i said ok.

the street glide is currently about to turn 30,000 miles and the rear oxygen sensor went out that's the only problem i have had with the bike.

i would love to have another big dog chopper as the ride and looks were great. rode from baton rouge to leeds, al 432 miles and felt like i could have kept going. i am just not a good enough wrench to own one of these things.

Another round please
Nice intro, now go home. 05 seems to be the worst year. My 04 has been awesome. Go to your harley generic site.

I own an 05 Chopper and have not had any problens until 2 weeks ago. I will replace the EHC soon and all will be good once again. However, if I had the problems you had I would feel the same as you. We all want a reliable ride....

I think he did the right thing. Just like anything else, if its exotic, it will need service and have issues. If you can't afford to service it, or can't deal with the quirks and sacrifices to be exotic, then you need to ride something else. Obviously, status and branding mean something to Mike, because if reliability really was the issue, then he would have bought a watercooled, Japanese made, brand new cruiser with sero miles, full warranty, at half the cost.

Bottom line, a nice Big Dog, when it's running, will get way more chicks than any HD. It's a matter of priorities.

EXACTLY!!!!!!!!!!

I had an '05 Chopper and loved it! Never had a problem with it. Traded it in on my '09 K9, but wish I could have afforded to keep the Chopper too....the economy:bang:

For some, the Honda Fury is the best choice :D
Fury, did someone say Fury. Actually not liking the style but probably a very good bike for those that do and gets some out on the road, good for them.

If I was going to go to a metric cruiser, would give big thoughts to one of the V-Star. They seem to be wide open for modifying and have seen some killers.

Now if I would go for a full out bagger tourer, the Goldwing would difently get some serious look over along with one of the Beemers.

You know, I bought a cordless rechargeable screwdriver once and the darn thing never would hold a decent charge for more than a day or two!:job:

Geeze, who left the gate open to the unhappy owner's pen?

Hell I had a similar problem with a good Dewalt, it would die down to nothing after driving in about 500 dry wall screws.

POS for sure. Seemed okay after about an hour charge, but really, I would think it should have got at least 1000 drywall screws and only need to be charged once a year (on a leap year at that).

Oh I left my gas cap loose once on the BD after filling up at the pump. Would you know it, the damn thing went flying off and hit me in the chest as I was doing about 80 down the interstate. BD should have had a safety strap on it. Damn and they would not cover it under warrenty.

Had to bribe my dealer to get a used one from a wreck bike.
