I have seen a few k9s for sale lately with powder coated motors. My questions about this is wouldn't it make the engine run hotter? Anyone had this done? Pros/cons? I did a search and didn't find anything. Thanks for the help!

My k-9 came with powder coated fins. Living up north I don't have any heat problems with it and I don't have to keep the fins shining, just the edges of the fins. The only thing is there are some chips in the powder coating and that could be from heat.

I had mine done Jugs and Heads several years ago. I also had them Diamond cut and have not had any heat problems. They are easy to keep clean too.

Have no idea if this is true or not but ive been told natural finish or powder coated run cooler than polished, and diamond cut cools even better. any opinions on that?

Mine are Black powder coated Diamond cut from the factory, no problems last summer in 110 F. Allen there at Strokers allowed it was an additional 3 grand of work to the motor.

According to Diamond Heads which is who did mine, it creates more surface area which in turn allows it to actually cool the engine Not increase temps. I have not noticed a difference but it sure looks kick ass !!

HD engines.......Powdercoated before any machine work is done.
400 - 450 degrees distorts a lot of things. Bores out of round, valve seats and guides get loose in heads. :bang: You get the idea. That's why most manufacturers won't gaurentee their engine parts if they are powdercoated after the machine work.
Might as well put another bullshit statement to bed also........diamond cuts doesn't do squat for engine cooling. :job:
