Powder coated calipers? Anyone done it?

I've searched, and see that some have done wheels, hubs, pulley, etc, but haven't seen anyone doing calipers. Rather than doing chrome, thought of doing red powder coat (the Pitbull is red) as a pop of color against the newly chromed wheels/hubs/pulley/struts. (I was tired of polishing billet)
Any recommendations as to where to have it done? I'd prefer some place that has done these so they plug the internals so reassembly isn't a problem.

Very nice. Not absolutely perfect, but unless you look closely with a critical eye...

It's been so damn hot in the garage, I couldn't put the bike back together - ended up rolling the bike in the house so I could put it together in the A/C. I'll post some pictures soon. I also mounted new mirrors, and waiting for the Headwinds headlight replacement - the stock one was fogged up, and cleaning it only made me decide to change out for this one: Headwinds: 5-3/4" Headlamp - Chrome Dot Tri-Bar

Hey Scott,

Heard the last dust storm hit up near our old place in N. Scottsdale. Hope all is well.

The powdercoat would be a durable choice and yes they need to not just plug but I would think they would tape over the mating surfaces of the two halfs.

Hey scott who did the chroming??? I need some stuff done....how ya liking the dry heat....
Hey Bill,
Used Kerr West Plating in Phx. They are up on Grand Ave, near Camelback Rd - just west of I-17. I was referred to them as they did hot rod and motorcycle parts - they could handle the size of the wheels, where as most places can't handle the larger parts. They have a "cash" price. I also wanted to stay local so I wouldn't have to ship all the stuff (2 wheels, 4 hubs, pulley, rear fender struts, front fender mounts, rear brake bracket) They had problems with the rear wheel, so they had to do it over a few times and thus the order was a couple weeks late - which fortunately wasn't a big deal since it has been too hot to ride, but still had me worried for a while.

I've used Brown's in Kentucky over the years with smaller parts and they do really nice work. They also have pricing guide online for Big Dog parts.

BTW, I'm going to ride over to the Rhythm Room on Saturday afternoon - there is a Rockabilly Blues Car Show Support the Troops event going on from 2pm to 8pm. Might be a little hot, but should be a good time. Come on out if you are itching to ride.

While last July's dust storm was a massive one, it seems like this year they have been more frequent - mostly hitting south of Phx and the east valley, but a few have found there way up our way. Another monsoon last night - pretty much covered the entire valley. Feels like the muggy mid-west! Hope things are going well in MI, and getting a lot of riding in!

Keith,
The local cash price was lightly less than Browns, but the main reason I didn't go to Browns was the cost to ship all the parts. I don't think Browns does wheels due to the size, but if you are considering doing the wheels, it would be worth contacting them to be sure.

would the finished thickness of the powder coat make it difficult/impossible to install the buttons??

It can be done by any competent powdercoater. Tape out the matting surfaces and plug the bleeder and feed....

The wheels and red calipers have held up for four years with zero problems.
