I am needing new tires this winter and have been kicking around the idea of powder coating my wheels purple to match my frame. It looks hot on black bikes, just don't know about the purple. If I did, I would do lower legs, and headlight bucket too. What do you guys think? Anyone good with photoshop?

I like the powder coat look the only draw back I have seen is the potential for chipping when changing the tire out. Guess it depends on whos doing the changing:hi:

Looks like your bike might be the same purple as mine. Just went through this with the powder coater myself. He will be powdercoating my wheels with the color then clearcoat and at the same time I am going to polish the hubs and just clear them only. I tried to call bigdog but all I could get was the paint code so the powdercoater said its a custom color but should be no problem. The only bad thing is that a minimum special color order is a 2lbs. @ $68.00 per pound. He said that would be enough powder to do my whole bike if I wanted.

not much work to keep powder coat looking good either - Al, make sure when he does the clear coat on the rims and hubs he is not using the stuff that yellows

Are you getting them done in Michigan? Hell, I could UPS them to the guy and we could split up the custom color charge. What is he charging you to do the wheels?

yea I've seen them, just think it would clash to much with my purple. Black bike I would be all over the anodized look. SEMA was all painted to match wheels this year, and it looked hot on all the lambos, etc. Just don't know yet about the bike.

Im also going to do some powdercoating this winter. Going to have my lower legs and trips and speedo and then my grips will be black as well.. Also pulling off all the polsihed and having it all chromed. As for the motor I have yet to decide if I want to pull it out and have it done as well..(blacked out with diamond cuts)

If yougo wth Powder Coasitn maje sure they know what not to coat (i.e. the inside recess where the hub fits. Powder is very thick and can create fitment issues. Other than that it is very durable and reples brake dust......
