Possible EHC repacement, speedo and tail lights not working

So took bike out for a ride and same thing happened again. Wiggled key nothing. Talked to big dog and asked about my problem and was told this could very well be an ehc problem. He said since the tail lights go directly to ehc with the red wire it may be something inside. Also note that I cant seem to get it to fail unless bike is hot and riding now. Took connectors off ehc applied grease and inspected for chaffing. Still nothing stands out. Next going to figure out how to take speedo apart since it was going too. Still lost.

Do you have the link to the service manuals? The breakdown of the speedo is in there. Been a little while since I took mine apart but I believe there is a hole on the bottom of the mount. A little allen screw that hold the cluster together. Take that out and it split apart.

Is your bike carb or efi? I have a DOCs I pulled off my '06 K9 when I rewired the bike. It worked fine the day it came out. I think it will only work on another carb bike though. If you're leaning toward EHC replacement and think this might work, PM me. I'd sell it cheap.
